Simon Gillespie Studio is known globally as one of the leading art conservation studios, trusted by major museums, galleries, auction houses and corporate and private collectors worldwide. Simon has spent more than forty years working with our highly qualified team of conservators and specialists to breathe new life into both historic and contemporary artwork, using a combination of modern methods and traditional techniques. Between us, we have over 100 years of combined experience in treating artwork of all periods and styles. All our senior conservators are Icon-accredited.

We are known for our work in authentication and attribution. As the conservation expert on BBC series ‘Britain’s Lost Masterpieces’, Simon has helped to unearth work by Titian, Rembrandt, Rubens and more. With our Mayfair studio in the heartland of London’s auction houses, we are happy to offer conservation and authentication guidance on auction purchases and upcoming lots. This work also extends to identifying counterfeit paintings and forgeries.

We aim to work to the highest professional and ethical standards in accordance with international codes of practice for the preservation of cultural heritage and excellence in conservation. We are highly trained and constantly update our knowledge by attending workshops, lectures, and keeping up to date with the latest developments in the science of conservation. During treatment, we always adhere to the artist’s original intention, whilst retaining the patina of age. All our work is documented with before, during and after images and all clients receive in-depth reports of condition and treatment.
